The Down County Boys - Bluegrass
A
great evening of fantastic musicianship and warm wit is guaranteed
with this string band of internationally respected and experienced
musicians. This is American country music and bluegrass at its best
on the classic line-up of fiddle, guitar, banjo and bass. Think of
the Scruggs style banjo playing, the soulful sound of Tammy Wynette
or the growl of Johnny Cash. First formed in 1964, the Down County
Boys are the UK’s longest established Bluegrass Band. During that
time there have been many musicians pass through the ranks but all
with great talent.
The
band includes Peter Parker on the fiddle, Mick Cooper as lead singer
and bass player, Chris Cooper on banjo and Ray Duffy who with his
brother were voted “Top British Country Duo” in the International
Country Music awards no less than 7 years running.
